Research & Development
| The IT industry is strongly characterized by rapid changes that expand the potential of computer devices and revolutionize roles within the market. In such a rapidly changing and competitive environment, the ability to stay flexible enough to adapt to innovations is obviously fundamental, although the ability to anticipate change and innovate one’s own solutions using emerging technologies is of even greater importance. Since its inception, the RGI Group has consistently focused on technological evolution and Research and Development activities and dedicated human and financial resources geared to the development, experimentation and testing of products, systems and prototypes. Indeed, the ability to bring together strong industrial development and technological expertise has proved fundamental to our company’s growth. |

Development and testing activities on the RGI Group’s new products are conducted by its own research center, located at the original Ivrea site, which comprises an internal division representing approximately 10% of our overall workforce, and to which the Group has allocated approximately 19% of its earnings over the past three years. With a view to ongoing evolution, the RGI Group has launched a number of projects in conjunction with such technological partners as Turin Polytechnic with which it has established, with the support of the Piedmont region, a Masters degree in Product Lifecycle Management and a Masters degree in Computer Engineering and Finance. |
Beginning in 2007, the Group launched a number of research activities involving innovative subjects and new technologies in collaboration with scientific research institutes, universities, polytechnics and science parks. RGI in fact believes that investing in purely research-oriented activities will further affect and improve the Group’s growth in coming years, including by offering products and solutions for alternative markets. The company’s exploration activities in new and emerging fields were brought to fruition in 2008 with the founding of BioDigitalValley, a new start-up company dedicated to research and development activities in innovative markets with high growth potential, such as the bioinformatics market. |
