Product Lifecycle Management

In collaboration with the Turin Polytechnic, RGI and a dozen other companies active in the area have promoted the creation of a level II Masters degree in Product Lifecycle Management, requiring two years of study. PLM is a methodology for managing technical information and processes that affect information applied to the data of a given product during the life cycle of that product. The goal is to maintain control of this data and to be able to distribute it to users according to their preferred timing and form.
The Masters degree, established in December of 2005, includes 1,200 hours of training, 800 of which within companies, and offers a complete and exhaustive approach to the most important challenges facing economic development as a whole, as well as to the competitive standing of a given company.
Students’ theoretical skills are thus developed with in-depth knowledge of operations and software applications, allowing them to accrue both experience and capabilities.
Furthermore, thanks to a collaboration between corporate and academic instructors, students implement experimental mini-projects of practical application, thus enabling instructors to test and where necessary correct the particular course of study of individual students, who are then assigned internships within companies for the entire duration of their training activities. The level of professionalism attained by students is distinguished by the following characteristics:
  • The ability to use data linking and analysis tools from technical areas (CAD, bills of materials in the design stage, supply components) with data from management areas (bills of materials and production plans, procurements, sales, operation, assistance and spare parts)
  • Knowledge and expertise pertaining to integrated design methods for products/processes/installations and related software systems.
  • Knowledge and use of computer technologies involving remote communications and cooperation.
  • Organizational capacities involving the integration of extensive and well-constructed technical teams
  • The ability to analyse and collaborate on implementation of systems for the PLM.
